Overview
The Dagomys Complex is one of the best known resort complexes of Russia´s Black Sea coast. This place is really unique. The township of Dagomys that gave its name to the complex is located 12 km away from the centre of Sochi. A long time ago people noticed that the local climate was different from that of other parts of the sea-shore: in summer it is a bit cooler in Dagomys as air-streams formed due to particular mountain relief bring freshness here. The word Dagomys is translated from Circassian as "a cool, shady place". In 1896 this place was chosen to be an estate for Russian tsar Nikolay II. A splendid park was laid out in the estate, a major part of which has been looked after till now.
